What is Naturalization?
It is the process by which a citizen of a foreign country voluntarily acquires the nationality of a second country, obtaining the rights and obligations of that country.
In Mexico, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) through the Nationality Department attached to the General Department of Legal Affairs, is the competent authority to receive, process and grant Mexican nationality by naturalization to foreigners, in accordance with articles 30, section B, sections I and II, of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States; 19, 20, 21, 23 of the Nationality Law; and 14, 16 to 20, of the Regulations of the Nationality Law.
Important:
It is worth mentioning that the INM does not have the competence to receive or process the requests for the Naturalization process, its intervention is limited to issuing an opinion regarding the procedure at the request of the SRE in accordance with article 23 of the Nationality Law, so you must contact directly to the SRE or consult the information at: www.sre.gob.mx/tramites-y-servicios/nacionalidad-y-naturalizacion
