Notification of change of marital status, name, nationality,
address, or place of work


Applicable to permanent residents, temporary residents, or temporary student residents who change their marital status, name, nationality, address, or place of work.            

  • Application

    Format to request immigration stay procedure, filled out electronically through the website, printed and with the autograph signature of the petitioner.

    Important:

    In the case of minors under 18 years of age, the application form must be signed by the mother, father or whoever exercises parental authority, guardianship or curatorship.

  • Requirements

    The documents (applications) for the procedures must be submitted in original only, and their annexes, in copy. If the interested party requires an acknowledgement of receipt, she/he must attach a copy for that purpose. (Article 15 A section I of the Administrative Procedure Federal Act).

    1. A letter signed by the foreign national, in which they solemnly declare the change to be notified: marital status, name, nationality, address, or place of work, expressly indicating the previous and new status or information, as applicable. In the case of dual nationality, they must indicate which nationality should be considered for their registration and stay in the country. Original.
    2. In the case of a change in marital status, a marriage certificate, divorce decree with the date on which it became final, or death certificate of the spouse must be submitted. Original and copy.
    3. In the case of a change of nationality, you must present your passport of the new nationality, certificate of nationality, or letter of naturalization. Original and copy.
    4. In the case of a change of name, you must present your passport or identity and travel document with the new name and, if applicable, a document issued by the competent authority of your country stating the change of name. Original and copy.

    Important:

    • You can generate the writing(s) on the Microsite within the Requirements section of the corresponding procedure by clicking on the texts marked in green.
    • Foreign public documents, with the exception of passports or identity and travel documents, must be apostilled or legalized and, where applicable, accompanied by a translation into Spanish prepared by officially recognized experts.
    • In the event of a change of name or nationality, you may request the replacement of your immigration document so that your identification details correspond to the updates, subject to compliance with requirements and payment of fees.
    • A change of workplace shall be understood to refer to the employer, not to a change of position, the employer's address, or the physical location of the workplace.
    • You may be subject to a fine if you refrain from informing the Institute of the change or do so untimely, in accordance with the provisions of article 158 of the Migration Law.
  • Follow-up Procedure

    If your application was pending on the day it was submitted, you will be able to track it with the email address you entered on the application, have your application number and password that was sent to you electronically at hand.
