Notice on Change of Marital Status by Temporary and Permanent Residents
This is applicable to foreign national temporary resident, temporary resident student or permanent resident who changes marital status.

Requirements
The documents (applications) for the procedures must be submitted in original only, and their annexes, in copy. If the interested party requires an acknowledgement of receipt, she/he must attach a copy for that purpose. (Article 15 A section I of the Administrative Procedure Federal Act).

Letter signed by the foreign person, in which under oath to tell the truth, states the change of marital status, expressly indicating the previous and the new corresponding civil status as well as the date on which said change occurred. Original.

Temporary resident card, temporary student or permanent. Original and copy.
3.
Prove the change of marital status with: Marriage certificate, divorce decree with the date on which it was enforceable or death certificate of the spouse. Original and copy.
Important:

Foreign public documents, with the exception of the passport or identity and travel document, must be apostilled or legalized and, where appropriate, accompanied by a translation into Spanish prepared by officially recognized experts as appropriate.
You may be subject to a fine if you refrain from informing the Institute of the change or do so untimely, in accordance with the provisions of article 158 of the Migration Law.
Follow-up Procedure
If your application was pending on the day it was submitted, you will be able to track it with the email address you entered on the application, have your application number and password that was sent to you electronically at hand.
