Visa authorization by family reunification

Applicable to the Mexican or foreign person with temporary residence, temporary student or permanent resident who requests a visa for a foreign person with whom he proves a Family Relationship.

Application
Format to request admission immigration procedure, filled out electronically through the website, printed and with the autograph signature of the petitioner.

Requirements

The documents (applications) for the procedures must be submitted in original only, and their annexes, in copy. If the interested party requires an acknowledgement of receipt, she/he must attach a copy for that purpose. (Article 15 A section I of the Administrative Procedure Federal Act).

1.	Current official identification of the Mexican person: passport, IFE/INE, professional license, military service card, consular registration, naturalization letter or Mexican birth certificate, current driver's license, or current residence card of the foreign person who accredits Family Relationship and request a visa for your family member(s). Original and copy.
2.	Legible copy of a valid unexpired passport (identity and travel document) in accordance with international law of the foreign national for whom a visa is requested. Copy.
3.	The foreign national for whom the visa is required does not have a pending application for a family reunification procedure submitted to the National Migration Institute.
4.	The petitioner must prove the Family Relationship with the foreign person for whom the visa is requested, in accordance with the following and present the requirement(s) according to each case:
	a) If it is the father or mother of the petitioner: Birth certificate of the petitioner. Original and copy.
	b) If it is a child of the petitioner: Birth certificate of the foreign person for whom a visa is requested, as long as they are a child or adolescent and have not married or are under their legal representation or are of legal age who are in a state of interdiction and are under their legal representation. Original and copy.
	c) If it is the petitioner's spouse: Marriage certificate. If the petitioner is mexican, she must present a Mexican marriage certificate. Original and copy.
	d) If the promoter certified the marriage relationship with another person: Documentary issued by the competent authority, in which the dissolution or termination of the same is determined. Original and copy.
	e) If it is a common-law wife or common-law husband of the applicant: Document issued by the competent authority of the country of origin or residence of the foreign person for whom a visa is requested, or where the legal act certifying that they have lived with the promoter in common, constantly and permanently for a minimum period of five years. Original and copy.
	f) If it is a son or daughter of the spouse, concubine or common-law husband, as long as the foreign person for whom the visa is requested is a girl, boy or adolescent and has not married or is under their legal representation or is older of age but is in a state of interdiction and is under your legal representation, the following is required: Birth certificate of the person for whom the visa is requested. Original and copy. That the father or mother of the foreign person for whom a visa is requested proves a Family Relationship with the promoter based on subsections c and d. Original and copy. Passport or identity and travel document that is valid in accordance with current international law of the spouse; concubine, concubine or equivalent figure of the promoter. Copy. Document issued by the competent authority in which the other father or mother of the minor consents his/her departure to reside in Mexico. Original and copy.
	g) In the case of a boy, girl or adolescent, whose guardianship or conservatorship is in charge of the petitioner: Document issued by the competent authority. Original and copy.
	h) If it is a brother or sister of the petitioner: Birth certificate of the petitioner and birth certificate of the foreign person for whom the visa is requested, as long as the person for whom the visa is requested is a girl, boy or adolescent and has not contracted marriage, or is of legal age but is in a state of interdiction and under his legal representation. Original and copy.
5.	The applicant who obtained permanent residence through refuge and requests the visa of his/her spouse, common-law husband, children, blood relatives up to the fourth degree, blood relatives of the spouse, common-law husband, common-law husband, up to the second degree: Document with which he proves recognition by derivation of refugee status for the relative, by the Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance. Original and copy.
6.	Proof of payment of fee for receiving and processing the application and, where appropriate, for authorization of visa for family reunification. Original and copy.

Important:

In case of having a visa application for Family Reunification pending resolution, the applicant must request the quit of the same.
The foreign person must contact a Mexican Consulate and schedule an appointment for the corresponding consular interview, within a term of 30 business days from the day after the person requesting the authorization issued by the National Institute of Migration.
In the event that a temporary or permanent resident visa has been authorized, upon arrival in Mexico, the foreign person will have 30 calendar days to carry out the exchange process before the National Institute of Migration to obtain the corresponding resident card.
Foreign public documents, with the exception of the passport or identity and travel document, must be apostilled or legalized and, where appropriate, accompanied by a translation into Spanish if they are written in other languages..

- Payment of fee for receiving and processing the application and, where appropriate, for authorization of visa for family reunification:
  $229.00 MXN
Important:

The help sheet must be filled out according to the following specifications:

Confirm that it corresponds to the type of procedure requested.

Register the full names and surnames exactly as they appear in the document with which the foreign national is identified in the Application (Regardless of the number of names and surnames).

In the case of minors, the payment must be registered with the names and surnames of the minors.

It is suggested to review exhaustively the payment receipts issued by the banking institutions, so that there is no error in the person's identification data.
Follow-up Procedure

If your application was pending on the day it was submitted, you will be able to track it with the email address you entered on the application, have your application number and password that was sent to you electronically at hand.
